This project was the Typographic Narrative & Environment for a Typography class, where we were tasked with creating type out of physical objects. My artist statement from the time was as follows:

Like with most of my artwork, in this piece I had a lot I wanted to say, but difficulty in finding the exact right way to say it. While it started out as something investigating the divide between childhood and adulthood, it morphed into something equally about the relationship between escapism and the “real” world. There’s also something to be said about how our culture of mass media has become like something of an additional language that we become versed in as we absorb each new piece of media. Just as someone who doesn’t speak English wouldn’t understand what the letters themselves say, someone who doesn’t recognize what characters the action figures represent may become confused as well.
